Our History – EST. 1989
The Independent Power Producers Human Resources National Conference (IPPHRNC) was established in 1989 with a vision of bringing human resources professionals together to network and exchange information on specific issues and trends facing them during this period of rapid domestic and international growth. Formally incorporated in 1995 as IPPHRNC, changed in 1997 to Independent Power Human Resources Association (IPHRA), and changed this year (2008) to Independent Energy Human Resources Association (IEHRA), the group has developed into a professional association which focuses on human resource issues affecting all aspects of the independent energy industry.

About IEHRA
The Independent Energy Human Resources Association (IEHRA) is a professional organization which focuses on human resource issues affecting the entire spectrum of the independent energy industry. Human resources professionals in the independent energy industry are constantly challenged with providing effective cost-efficient solutions to the global issues facing their management and employees. IEHRA provides a setting to collectively examine these issues and exchange ideas with peers. It also provides companies with current data to compare their own human resource practices with others in the industry.

IEHRA sponsors and provides the following:

  • The Annual Industry Human Resource Conference
  • Industry Compensation and Benefit Surveys
  • Networking and Dialogue
  • Forums on Industry Specific Human Resource Issues
  • Participation in Shaping Industry Standards and Practices

Annual Industry Human Resources Conference
Since 1989, IPHRA (Now IEHRA) has held an annual conference designed to provide a forum for networking and to present a program of expert speakers focusing on industry trends, issues and solutions. IEHRA is committed to the presentation of programs encompassing the breadth, growth and diversity of the Independent Energy Industry.

Industry Compensation and Benefit Surveys
In response to demand for industry specific data on compensation and benefit-related practices, IPHRA (Now IEHRA) established an annual compensation survey conducted through a third party consultant. The survey is the industry’s authoritative benchmark on compensation practices. The only study of its kind targeted specifically at the Independent Energy Industry, the survey includes data on base pay, incentive pay, short and long term incentives, company scope information and other facets of employee compensation.

Organization
Guided by seasoned human resources professionals in the industry, IEHRA provides direction and ongoing communication among participants. Fundamentally, there is one goal in mind: to provide an effective forum for members to share and learn the best success strategies for confronting the human resources challenges of the independent energy industry. The organization provides the opportunity for networking and open dialogue with industry experts through programs such as the Annual Conference, Compensation Surveys and Member Meetings. The organization also welcomes new members to join the association and attend the ongoing meetings. Through these ongoing activities of the association, IEHRA can provide you with the resources to meet the human resources challenges of the Independent Energy Industry
